Alex Bowman with Laying Down the Lawman!!

I am thrilled to have Alex Bowman on the blog today with her newest release Laying Down the Lawman!!

Laying Down the Lawman
The Soul Collectors, 2
Sheriff Jason McCall has been entrusted by his community to protect and serve.  When dead bodies start littering the morgue, his investigations lead him to a world of creatures he never believed in.  Questioning his own sanity, he closes in on the killers, never expecting to be attracted to one of the things that go bump in the night.

Elia comes to the area when he senses a spike in evil energy, knowing the Hell Demon Horde is behind the rash of deaths.  When he’s nearly arrested by the local sheriff, he’s tempted to let the sexy lawman put him in cuffs and have his wicked way with him.

Bodies collide as they find solace in each other.  Jason’s weary of joining their fight, bound by the oath he gave his neighbors.  So, Elia pulls out all the stops to lay down his lawman.

Be Warned: m/m sex.

“Hands up where I can see them.”

Elia looked the human over, seeing the uniform of a lawman in the dim light, the moon casting a glint over the tin star on the man’s chest.  Law or not, there was a chance this man was working with Molock, so he needed to tread carefully.  He lifted his hands up and signaled his surrender, which was anything but.  At first chance, he would subdue the male and continue his perusal.

“Come out into the light so I can see you better.  Keep the hands up.”

Elia stepped forward and into the full moon’s illumination, shifting back into his human form before doing so.  Apparently he’d not been quick enough.

“Dammit, you’re one of them, aren’t you?”

Elia couldn’t help but bristle at the term them, or the way the man spit it out.  “One of what, officer?”

“Don’t play me.  If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it’s a duck.”

Elia couldn’t help but chuckle.  “Quack, quack.”

The gun trained on him never wavered.  Elia stopped laughing as he saw Chastity get out of the car from the corner of his eye.

“Chastity?  What are you doing up here?”  The man never removed his eyes from Elia.  Smart man.

“Aww, Sheriff McCall, whatchu got your gun out for?  This gentleman has been nothing but nice to me.”

“Well, this gentleman seems to have put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

“How’s that, sheriff?  Is there a law against stopping in to see if a friend is home?”

“A friend?”  The sheriff lowered his voice an octave, as if he didn’t want Chastity to hear what he had to say.

“I know what you freaks are doing up here.  There’ll be no more killings in my county.  Is that why you brought her up here, to drain her blood and pitch her body into the river like the others?”

Drain her blood?  Elia’s mind spun as he tried to insert that knowledge into what he already knew.

Was Molock working with vamps?

Mother-fucker.  He looked the sheriff over one more time, wondering if he should keep playing dumb or if he needed to lay some of his cards out on the table to offer to share a little information.  The officer could potentially help give him more of the intel he would need to take down the demon, to see what they were up to and how wide the net spread.

“Sheriff, you’ve got it all wrong.  You really do.  I’m on your side in this.  I saw all the strange disappearances in Jackson and came here to help.  I’m a demon hunter.”  Elia took a tentative step forward, knowing if he could get close enough, he could tell the sheriff to release him and to forget everything that had just happened.  If he could just get a good look into the man’s eyes.

“Stay the fuck back.”

Elia took another tentative step closer.  “Molock has left a trail of dead bodies in his wake before.  I can help you.”

The gun never moved or shook.  Elia felt an instant of respect for the man behind the weapon.  “I said, stand your ground.  Do not move closer or I will shoot you.”

“Now, sheriff, I’m not trying to hurt anyone. I just came out here to see what Molock was up to and to see how to stop him.”  Elia was only a few feet away now and could finally get a good look at the sheriff’s face.

He was younger than Elia expected, his skin smooth.  The wide brim of his Stetson cast a shadow over half his face, but the wide mouth was expressive, the lips curved and bowed.  The peppering of beard growth just made the male all the more attractive.  A twinkling light came from where his eyes should be.

Elia captured the stare as best he could, staring at where those twinkles were.  “You’ll release me now, and let the woman go.  We were never here.”

“What kind of bullshit is that?”

Elia grimaced.  Apparently, he’d not gotten a good enough look into the man’s eyes when he’d issued the command.  He’d need to get closer, pop the hat off him.  He took another carefully measured step.

“I will not hesitate to shoot you.  Take one more step and you’re gonna have a hole in you.”
Elia knew he needed to be quick.  He’d have to jump the sheriff and pin him to the ground, get the ridiculous cowboy hat off him and capture his stare.  Once it was all over, the human would never realize what had even happened.  In the blink of an eye, he pounced, but not before the human let off a round from his gun.

Elia was too fast and the bullet didn’t get him in the intended spot, but rather, slipped just past his shoulder, nicking him.

The pain lanced through his arm, but he couldn’t stop until he had gotten the officer to forget him.  Tumbling him to the ground, he soon landed on top of the human and wrestled him for the gun.  The thing went off in their hands, hitting the Mercedes on the side.  Dammit, my car!  He heard Chastity scream and begin running, her feet sounding over the pebbled drive.

Elia somehow knocked the hat from the man and saw him for the first time, Elia not needing as much light to see in the moonlit night.   A strong brow covered the most intense set of green eyes he’d ever seen.  An aquiline nose ended above those firm lips, taut cheeks sloped down to a firm jaw.  The man was absolutely stunning.

He tried to ignore the jade green and how incredibly beautiful those eyes were.  He also tried to ignore how turned on he was getting, too, the strapping man fighting with incredible strength below him.  He tried to ignore how rock hard his cock was already becoming.

Lorraine Nelson with Love on the Rocks!

I'm happy to bring you all yet another wonderful sneak peak by another talented author!  Today on the blog we have Lorraine Nelson with her new release Love on the Rocks!

When Sara attempts to save her daughter, she may also be escaping a fate worse than an abusive boyfriend…she may be running away from true love. The big question is: Which man will find her first?

Sara Compton, normally strong, independent, and fun-loving, is deeply distressed at having to abandon her baby, but she has neither money nor home and is hiding from an abusive and obsessive ex-boyfriend. The only way to keep her child safe is to give her up.

Anthony Jacobs has sworn off women due to a previous relationship gone sour. He finds the child, takes her home, and arranges care for her. When he places a public call for a nanny and a lovely woman arrives who seems to have a rapport with the abandoned baby, he hires her on the spot.

Sara is fraught with guilt and tension at the possibility of being found out. What will Anthony think of her if—or when—he finds out the truth? To add to her worries, trouble arises in the form of Sara’s ex-boyfriend, who appears on the scene with custody papers in hand. She makes a hasty escape, her daughter in tow, but in the process of avoiding the evil Elliot Saunders, is she leaving behind her one true love?

Now doesn't that sound fascinating?  But wait there's more!  Check out this wonderful excerpt!

Love on the Rocks - Excerpt

"Since you slaved away to prepare such a feast, I insist on doing the washing up."

"What? No beeper?" Caroline chided.

"Not tonight. Guess I was too tired to arrange a get-a-way. I'll have to do better tomorrow," Anthony said with a wink and a chuckle.

Picking up Charity, she shot back, saying, "That figures. Oh, well, I'll enjoy tonight's respite and take our little princess upstairs to get her cleaned up. What do you think of that, sweetheart?"

"Fine with me," Anthony answered unexpectedly, then must have caught himself because he turned back to look at them as Caroline erupted into laughter. "Uh, you weren't talking to me just then, were you?" he asked sheepishly.

"No, but you sure do look good in red," she quipped, giggling at his embarrassment as she went on her way.

Anthony could hear her giggles as she went up the back stairs. To his astonishment, he had truly enjoyed thinking she'd called him 'Sweetheart,' and it had seemed so natural, too.

Oh, boy! Am I ever in big trouble, he told himself as he realized he'd fallen head over heels for the woman. What am I going to do now? How do I find out if she feels the same without bringing on a sexual harassment suit? Why did she have to be Charity's employee...and a darn good one at that! He didn't want to scare her into running away. Think, Anthony! Think! He knew he'd figure out something. He'd just have to play it by ear and take a chance when the opportunity arose.

Talbot's Ploy by Kastil Eavenshade

Talbot Sauvageot has kept his wicked lifestyle underground for several years, going from one lover to the next. Decedent rake to females by day, passionate lover for his latest male companion at night. When he is forced to flee Paris or face the guillotine, Talbot realizes none of the men he has bedded over the past years burns at his soul like his dear friend Maxime LaRue.
Forced into seclusion in the forest of Bois de Lunor, he receives an invitation from Maxime for their yearly gathering at his estate in Varanguebec. One that Talbot has avoided the past few years. Refusing to submit to a life without love, Talbot schemes to discover if his childhood friend shares the same taste in pleasure as he.
Will Maxime submit to Talbot’s ploy or cast his friend in the shadow of death?

On the patio, Talbot inhaled the heavenly scent of roses. None of Marcel’s changes had taken hold, as if Maxime’s mother willed his icy touch away. Out in the thicket of it, Maxime strolled through the moss-covered rock pathways. Talbot smiled when his friend noticed his presence and quickened his step. The only thing that would heighten the moment for Talbot was a lover’s embrace, but he knew better than to expect that.
“My friend.” Maxime smacked Talbot’s back. “I was afraid you would be too busy whoring through Paris to come.”
Talbot snorted. “I have more refined tastes. As it were, my recent affair ended quite abruptly, I fear. I am currently in hiding from a very angry father.”
Maxime laughed. “Excellent, you old rake. Perhaps you and I can sample the local fair before the others arrive?”
“I am famished for such delicacies.” Talbot chuckled. His gaze traveled the length of Maxime’s physique before peering off into the garden. “Your mother’s hand was like an artist plying their trade. It is still breathtaking after all these years.”
“My father does not speak of her.” Maxime sighed.
“Your father is a fool. He did not give you time to grief before sending you off. Not that I minded your company at the mansion of my tutor.” Talbot grinned.
“Hah. You barely remember my presence. Monsieur LaVigne had you under thumb for all your pranks.” Maxime waved for Talbot to follow him down the path to the gardens.
“I quite enjoyed myself, yes.” Talbot sucked in a breath, Maxime’s waistcoat the latest fashion and short enough to give him ample view of his muscled behind. The growing bulge in his breeches threatened to betray him. Talbot whisked his thoughts away.
“It seems someone cannot wait for us to hunt a willing vixen.” Maxime smirked and glanced briefly at Talbot’s tightness.
“Pardon, my friend, I have had a long journey without the aid of release.” He covered his growing manhood.
“No worries, Talbot. Come.” He crooked a finger. “Remember that hideaway place where you and I would indulge in manners that would have our fathers cracking a switch over our offending hands?”
Oui. Some of the best times had by defying our fathers, eh?” And the sight of your cock, Talbot added inwardly. “For our part, we did bring back a stag or two on our hunts.”
“You are a better shot than I, thankfully. Shall we make ready for an evening in the village? ‘Twould do ill to your reputation to finish before satisfying your lover.”
Talbot’s hungry gaze flitted the length of Maxime’s body as his friend turned his back to go further down the trail. The familiarity of the scenery and the chance to see what a man Maxime had become excited him. In a copse of trees, hidden from plain sight, the cabin made of limbs and vines stood out to him.
“Enjoy yourself, my friend. I still have a few amenities inside.”
“I cannot believe your father never found this place.” Talbot laughed. His hand glided along the outside seeking the one cluster of branches that would give him entry.
“My father never found out about a lot of our adventures.” Maxime picked up a few pebbles off the ground and tossed them into the thicket.
“We learned a lot from each other, mon ami.”
Talbot smiled as the opening revealed itself. He squeezed through. Inside, the natural bench made out of a few flat stones stood on one side and a thick tallow candle rested on a thick root. When they hunted in the forest, the small space became shelter from a passing storm or a place to rest without worry of being found by Maxime’s father.
They also used it for more sinful urges, something Talbot’s father found a natural habit that needed taming by a skilled courtesan and one that Maxime’s father thought a repulsive indulgence for those bound to the service of Hell.
Talbot opened the front of his pants, and his cock spilled free. His fingers caressed the tip before he rubbed the tallow to use as a barrier and natural lubrication. Through the tangled vines, he spied Maxime glancing back periodically. His perfect lips and defined shape captivated Talbot.
